Summer Fun List - 2012

Of course ice cream is on the list!

I'm a little late in creating our annual list of fun things to do this summer, and since I'm still working, our window of opportunity for fun-making is limited to weekends at the moment.  I am looking forward to a wide-open August, though, and I plan to pack as much in as possible.

  • Swim in Walden Pond
  • Have a playdate with Teddy and Michael
  • Spend a day in Boston
  • Go to the beach
  • Throw rocks into Lake Ontario
  • Watch a sunset
  • Foods to eat in abundance:  Dad's macaroni salad, watermelon, tomatoes from our garden, zucchini, corn on the cob, and ice cream
  • Make homemade lemonade
  • Take a walk at the Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Nathan's 3rd birthday!
  • Write and send letters to family members
  • Go fruit picking - peaches, plums, and/or early apples
  • Fly kites
  • Play in a new kiddie pool
  • Take a picnic
  • Buy canvases for the boys to make masterpieces to hang on our new walls
  • Make homemade popsicles and smoothies
  • Visit the Baseball Hall of Fame
  • Make our own puzzles (afterwards, these make great travel items!)
  • Go to a music festival
  • Write our own books
  • Keep the TV off
  • Start a new book series with Aaron
  • Go canoeing
  • Blow bubbles
  • Pick an animal day - choose an animal and learn everything we can about it, draw pictures of it
  • Family backyard campout (this is the third year in a row on this list...let's make it happen this year!)
  • Ride bikes at the Elm Bank
  • Watch a movie and eat popcorn on a rainy day
  • Run through the sprinkler
  • Visit the animals at the farm

Oh I just love making these lists!  Such fun stuff!  Now I want to get started immediately.  What's on your list?

  1. I need to make a list like this. I've been feeling guilty about the amount of tv Emma has been watching during my summer classes. I'm so glad they'll be over in 2 weeks. The puzzle idea is cute, and not too crafty, haha. I'm going to try it out.

  3. I just love your lists Mary. I create similar ones before coming back to Massachusetts. The kids and I sit down and write a list of all our favourite things to do and eat. When we arrive we start ticking off the list. I am off to find that list...I think you just solved what I wanted to write about next.

    Best wishes Mary...
