Reading List

What are you all reading these days? I just finished The Hour I First Believed, by Wally Lamb. It is long, and complex, but I ultimately found it worthwhile.

I decided to choose a lighter read for my next book - Ask Again Later, by Jill Davis. My nightstand has a stack of unread books, waiting for me. The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, is up next. And I want to give The Poisonwood Bible another chance. Everyone I know loved it, and I never managed to finish it.

What's on your nightstand?

Aside from the kids books I love to read (Lightning Thief, Ranger's Apprentice, 100 Cupboards, etc.), and the teen series starting with Here There Be Dragons, I loved The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, set after WWII on the Island of Guernsey off England. Great characters, interesting format. I do hear The Help is very good. Elinor

I just finished Andre Agassi's autobiography "Open." It was fascinating and I thought well written, as if he was just sitting there telling you about himself. Even people not really into tennis would like it I think. Just started a book I'll be doing with my study group: "The Rhythm of Life: Living every day with Passion and Purpose" by Matthew Kelly. It's already gotten my attention & is making me evaluate what I want.

  4. The Help was fantastic! Just rereading some Salinger books now...I think they were more appealing in the midst of my teen angst days though :)
