6.  Buy something without going deeper into debt.

7.  Yoga.

8.  Express my own opinions.

9.  Manage someone else at work.

10.  Have a healthy and happy relationship.

11.  Make small talk.  (I still hate it, but I can do it.)

12.  Know my personal style.

13.  Laugh when little things go wrong.  (Most of the time.)

14.  Choose a good bottle of wine or beer.

15.  Be happy for others instead of jealous.

16.  Ignore whatever's popular and stay true to what I like.

17.  Not care what others think about me.

18.  Be a good mom.

19.  Seek out shade at the beach.

20.  Be optimistic.

  1. "Seek out shade at the beach"....I love your list but for some reason this one leapt out at me, definitely a sign of being wiser & more sensible I think :)

40 is sounding good on you :) X

  2. Wow - this is a great list! It is worth reminding ourselves that the growth that has happened is really good. I read an article recently that was angry at the whole concept of 'she looks good...for her age' thing. As why do we have to always qualify every compliment after a certain age with that appendage. I think this sort of list is really positive to show us that being 40 or 50 or whatever age is about knowing what works and what doesn't. Here's to making the very best of it all and I agree with Simone - wiser is good. I would also add that the one thing I am way better at now is knowing when something is bad for me. It's like I have an innate sense now when I am coming down with a cold or something. I know not to soldier on and it's my body giving me a sign. There is goodness is that... Lou x

  3. 40's for me have been wonderful so far. One thing I do now is say "no" _ nicely but without tieing myself in knots apologising & explaining why! Enjoy, xx
